Can I remain anonymous if I win the lottery in Arizona?

Per state law, the names of winners or legally formed entities that are paid lottery prizes or winnings of $600 or more are kept confidential for 90 days from the date the prize is awarded and are not a public record during that period. In accordance with Arizona Revised Statute (A.R.S.) §5-573(D), winners of $100,000 or more can opt to keep their name permanently confidential. However, information regarding the winner’s city and county of residence is not confidential.

How much will I pay in taxes if I win the Arizona Lottery?

By law, Arizona is required to withhold 4.8% in state taxes and 24% in federal taxes for all prizes greater than $600.

How long does it take to receive AZ Lottery winnings?

It typically takes about three business days to process the claim from when it’s received but may take up to two weeks.

Can I buy an AZ Lottery ticket online?

At this time, tickets must be purchased at an authorized retailer.

Arizona became the first state west of the Mississippi to approve a lottery when the statewide public initiative passed in November 1980, followed by its official launch in 1981.

Arizona Lottery ticket sales go to programs and organizations in four key areas: health and human services, higher education, environmental conservation, and economic and business development. In total, state law requires that the Arizona Lottery fund 13 beneficiaries that support 20 programs vital to the community.

The Arizona Lottery gave nearly $231 million back to local communities in the 2019 fiscal year. To date, $4 billion has been put back into Arizona communities and programs thanks to the AZ Lottery.

How long do I have to claim a prize?

Draw game prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the date of the drawing. Once a winning ticket has expired it cannot be redeemed.
