New Jersey’s newest multi-millionaire is a lottery player who got lucky on Saturday, when a single Powerball ticket sold in the Garden State was worth $23.2 million, the nationwide game of chance announced.

The relatively modest Jersey jackpot follows a $731.1 million winning ticket sold in Maryland on Wednesday. The Maryland win was less than half the all-time high for a jackpot in the 45-state Powerball consortium, but hardly small change.

A Mega Millions jackpot worth $1 billion for Friday’s lottery drawing was won by a single ticket sold in Michigan, making it the third largest prize in U.S. lottery history.

Saturday’s winning ticket in New Jersey matched all six numbers in the that night’s Powerball drawing, entitling the winner to 30 payments totaling $23.2 million spread out over 29 years, or a single up-front payment of $17.3 million, the lottery said. That’s before taxes, mind you.

The winning ticket was sold at a Quick Mar on Lakeview Avenue in Clifton, where New Jersey Lottery Executive Director James Carey is scheduled to present the store owner a check for $30,000 on Monday as a bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The five winning white ball numbers were 05, 08, 17, 27, 28, plus Powerball 14, with a 3X Power Play multiplier. The lottery did not say where or when the ticket was sold, and a spokesperson did not immediately respond to requests for details. New Jersey also had a $2 million winner on Saturday, the lottery said.

Eight tickets around the country matched the white balls, and doubled the prize to $2 million because the tickets included the Power Play option costing $1 — not a bad investment, the lottery said. One of those $2 million tickets was sold in New Jersey, while two were in Florida, with one each in Georgia, Illinois, New Hampshire, New York and Puerto Rico.

The next Powerball drawing will be on Wednesday, when the jackpot will reset to $20 million. Since the advertised jackpot will be under $150 million, the 10X multiplier will be an option.
