Powerball® costs $2 per play.

Select five numbers from 1 to 69 for the white balls; then select one number from 1 to 26 for the red Powerball.

Choose your numbers on a play slip or let the lottery terminal randomly pick your numbers.

The Powerball jackpot grows until it is won.

Players win a prize by matching one of the 9 Ways to Win.

Where

Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands!

Powerball drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET.

Sales cut-off times vary by one to two hours before the drawing, depending on the selling jurisdiction.

To find out where to watch the drawings, click here.

Power Play

Ask for Power Play® with your Powerball purchase!

For an additional $1 per play, the Power Play feature can multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 times!

The multiplier number is randomly selected just before each drawing.

The 10X multiplier is only in play when the advertised jackpot annuity is $150 million or less.

The Match 5 prize with Power Play is always $2 million.

Multi-Draw

Play the same set of numbers in multiple drawings!

Select the number of consecutive drawings you want to play in the Multi-Draw or Advance Play section of your play slip or tell the retailer how many drawings you wish to play.

The number of Multi-Draws or Advance Plays available for purchase is dependent on the selling jurisdiction.

How TALL

A Powerball jackpot of $40 million may not seem like much, but ask yourself this – is $40 million really a small amount of money? Is the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. a small building?

If you were to stack $100 bills, take a look at the heights the money would reach at each estimated jackpot amount.

How to Play
The big money game! Powerball is America’s BIG draw game that grows by the millions. There are nine ways to win, twice a week. The Powerball jackpot is always big.

How to Play

  1. Decide how many plays you want. Each play costs $2. You can choose either one, two, three, four or all five plays (A thru E) on each Powerball playslip.
  2. The starting annuitized jackpot for Powerball is $40 million.
  3. For each game, pick five numbers (5 of 69) in the white “Pick 5” box. Next, pick your one Powerball number (1 of 26) in the “Powerball” box below.
  4. If you want the computer to randomly select your numbers, ask the clerk for a “Quick Pick”, or mark the “Quick Pick” box on the playslip.
  5. Before submitting your playslip, make sure the numbers you have chosen are the ones you want. Powerball tickets cannot be canceled after they are processed. Responsibility for the numbers selected rests with the player, not the retailer or the Lottery.
  6. If you want to play the same numbers for up to 10 consecutive drawings, mark the appropriate number of drawings in the Multi-Draw section.
  7. Drawings are on Wednesday and Saturday night at 8:59 p.m. MT
  8. PowerPlay for Powerball is a way to multiply your prize of $50,000 or less by 2, 3, 4, 5, or even 10 times. The PowerPlay option costs an additional $1 per play. IMPORTANT: The 10 times multiplier is ONLY in play when the advertised annuity jackpot is $150 million or less. The Match 5 prize with PowerPlay is always $2,000,000
The overall odds of winning a prize in this game are 1:25

MAKE SURE TO SIGN YOUR TICKET PRIOR TO PRESENTING FOR PAYMENT.

The Jackpot Prize is paid as an annuity of 30 payments over 29 years or, at the election of the winner, in a lump sum payment of the cash value of the annuity prize. If the winner chooses the annuity, the annual payments will be increased each year by a percentage set out in the Powerball game rules. The jackpot is pari-mutuel. You win other cash prizes when you correctly match other Powerball numbers drawn. Prizes must be claimed within 180 days from the date of the drawing.
